Carl is an PhD student who is looking into sub-seismic reservoir Carl Buistcharacterization of Devonian Reefs in the Michigan Basin.   These reefs are seasonally used for underground gas storage,  and an improved understanding of the internal structure of the reefs is critical. Working with newly acquired seismic data, and a plethora of well logs, and cores, Carl will be studying how far we can push the latest seismic attributes, machine learning algorithms, and inversion techniques.

Carl also shares my interests in studying methods to improve how we teach and learn seismic interpretation and its related advanced techniques.  During his time with the SDA, he will be assisting me in several seismic education research studies, in the hopes that we can more effectively teach students how to interpret subsurface data.
